In Memory Of Keir Hardie
Entering The House Of Commons
The man wi' a bunnet t' cover his pate,
Wi' a braid Scotch tongue and a cause to relate,
He gar'd them sit up and made them tak heed
For a cause that was just - some day would succeed.
Some clowns that were there wi' hats nondescript,
Their reasoning to ribbons, Keir oft' times did rip.
They looked doon their noses wi' a sort o' disdane,
At the man wi' the bunnet - we honour his name.

Notes
Burns and Keir Hardie were very
strong influences on our grandfather!
